Thank you for signing up for the JHDC 30 Acts of Kindness initiative! To ensure timely submission, please plan to complete your event on or before Monday, August 25, 2025. This will allow sufficient time to gather and submit the required materials by Friday, August 29, 2025.

Each Group Must Submit:

  • 5 to 10 selected photos
  • A short video (maximum 1 minute)
  • Select a preferred T-shirt color for uniformity

Branded placards will be provided to help enhance your photos!

Acts of Kindness Options

1. Community Grocery Giveaway

Distribute free bags of groceries (non-perishables + essentials) to families in need.
Kindness Factor: Provides tangible help with food insecurity.
Add-On: Include prayer cards or handwritten encouragement notes.

2. Blessing Bags for the Homeless

Assemble care packages with items like socks, soap, snacks, toothbrushes, and water.
Kindness Factor: Offers dignity and love to the often-overlooked.
Add-On: Include a small Bible or uplifting scripture verse.

3. Join the JHDC Car Wash Initiative

Participate in JHDC's organized car wash event—no strings attached.
Kindness Factor: Demonstrates unconditional service and joy.
Add-On: Volunteers wear T-shirts that say "Loved to Serve."

4. Pay It Forward Gas Station Blessing

Go to a local gas station and pay for people's fuel (set a budget and limit per person).
Kindness Factor: Surprising generosity builds trust and curiosity about faith.
Add-On: Give a card that says, "This is a gift from your local church. We just want to bless you."

5. Kindness to First Responders

Deliver gift baskets or snacks to police, fire, EMTs, or hospital staff.
Kindness Factor: Shows appreciation and support to frontline workers.
Add-On: Include kids' thank-you drawings or church youth notes.

6. Laundromat Love

Provide quarters, detergent, and snacks at a local laundromat.
Kindness Factor: Helps low-income families manage a basic but expensive chore.
Add-On: Offer prayer if people are open.

7. Senior Citizen Encouragement Day

Visit a nursing home with gifts, flowers, and hymns.
Kindness Factor: Brightens the lives of the elderly and lonely.
Add-On: Provide "Kindness Kits" with puzzles, devotionals, and socks.

8. Volunteer at a Women's Shelter

Volunteer time and services at a local women's shelter, helping with meals, childcare, or organizing donations.
Kindness Factor: Provides direct support and hope to women in crisis situations.
Add-On: Bring care packages with personal hygiene items and encouragement cards.

9. Prayer and Encouragement Booth

Set up a booth in a local park or mall offering free prayer, hugs, or notes of encouragement.
Kindness Factor: Publicly offers hope and a listening ear.
Add-On: Have free bottled water or snacks available.

10. Neighborhood Cleanup & Blessing

Clean up trash or help beautify neglected areas of the community.
Kindness Factor: Demonstrates care for the shared environment.
Add-On: Leave a friendly note saying, "This area was cleaned by Jesus House, DC as an act of kindness."

11. $10 Gift Card Distribution

Distribute $10 gift cards at grocery stores, gas stations, laundromats, or include them in care packs for single moms.
Kindness Factor: Provides immediate practical assistance to those in need.
Add-On: Include a blessing card with the gift card.
